Khuda ke siwa kisi ko khuda nahi kerna,

Main ne aap ko aap main fana nahi kerna,

Hoa maloom ghair ki aghosh main mujhe,

Saqi bina jaam ne woh maza nahi kerna,

Kaha mujh se farishto ne ghair ke astane per,

Namaz-e-kufr he sahi per qaza nahi kerna,

Guzari hai maine zindagi arsaie-e-daraz ki,

Jo guzar gayi so uski mujh ko saza nahi kerna,

Main saleeb-e-ishq per latka maseeha hon,

Main nahi jaanta wafa nahi kerna

I make no one my God but God alone;

I do not want you to lose yourself in me.

I came to know in the embrace of another:

Without the cupbearer, the wine holds no such pleasure.

The angels said to me on the doorstep of another:

“Though this prayer be one of infidelity, do not leave it unsaid.”

I have lived a life of many long years;

Do not punish me for what has passed.

I am a messiah hanging upon the cross of love;

I do not know how to be unfaithful.
